THE BEGINNERS workshop
Saturday 24th February
2:30-4:30pm
Loup Yoga Studio
If you’re new to yoga it can all seem a bit daunting and confusing. We use funny words, constantly cue the breath and expect you to just know what a ‘vinyasa’ is! But you’ve also been told just how good it is for you and how amazing it makes you feel.
This workshop is designed for those new to yoga or those wanting to have a deeper understanding of yoga’s foundations.
We will start at the very beginning… a brief history of where yoga comes from and how the ‘asana’ (physical) practice came about. Then we will get into the postures and start breaking them down and understanding what we’re supposed to be doing in the poses.
We will go through the alignment and sequencing of Sun Salutations, as well as the most traditional standing postures, seated postures, backbends and inversions.
There will be plenty of time for questions and exploring any postures that people are struggling with.
After the posture breakdowns, we will go through a yoga sequence as a group to practice synchronising the poses with the breath. There will be a lovely relaxation towards the end of the workshop to allow all the hard work to assimilate, leaving you feeling calm and centred.
You do not have to be a total beginner to attend the workshop. It will also benefit you if you want to gain a deeper understanding of the postures.
All yoga equipment is provided.
£30 per person.
